I thought I knew quite a bit about nutrition and what certain foods do to your body, that is until I actually took some classes on it and read some informational articles on nutrition. I have learned over the years that there are many different views on which food is the right one for the right situation. What a person does everyday plays a huge factor in nutrition, and people sometimes use uncommon methods to produce the shape of their body. Nutrition has also advanced tremendously over the past 100 years.
Let’s take breakfast as example, everyone eats breakfast at some time of the day. One person could eat oatmeal every morning and they would be full for about three hours and have enough energy to stay motivated. The same person could eat cereal with milk for breakfast every day and feel hungry and groggy about an hour later. Oatmeal is rich in fiber and has a lot of carbs per serving which stores energy for the body to use. Cereal usually has a decent amount of carbs but most of them are from sugar which only keeps you feeling full for a shorter period of time. They are both pretty healthy foods, but oatmeal is a better option.
Someone that is an athlete for most teens they will need more of certain things like protein, carbs, calories, and fats. The athlete does not necessarily need more of any of these things during the day, but if he or she is eating the right amount of each they will physically feel better during any form of sports. Kind of like what was stated before, what you eat throughout the day matters greatly on how you feel and preform. On the flip side of that, someone who is fifty years old, works from home, and runs daily to exercise will not need as much protein, carbs, fats, and calories to perform their tasks without feeling rundown. Due to the fact that an athlete’s body demands more food in order to keep up with their life and the older person does not need nearly as much calories and etc.
Dieting is hard especially when you are a super busy college student who is always on the run. In the long run consistency in a diet will show you the best results. If you eat healthy foods daily one or two choices of “bad” food will not hurt your performance or shape. People are always different so someone’s techniques might not be to appealing for one person and the next might think it’s the best for their body.
